The “Rev” Al Sharpton appeared on FOX’s Hannity & Colmes tonight to discuss “The State of the Black Union” that occurred in Texas this past weekend. (SIDE NOTE: Ironically, in the civil rights era, blacks complained about separate but equal, yet they are separating from the rest of the “union” in this event) The SotBU is just an excuse for prominent figures in the Black community to bash President Bush and fellow Republicans. At the event, Harry Belafonte reiterated his hate for President Bush along with many of his friends. In early January, Harry Belafonte called President Bush, “the greatest terrorist in the world“.
When it was Alan Colmes’ time to speak with Al, he set him with several straw man arguments that attempted to show how judgmental it was of them to classify Sharpton with the remarks Belafonte made. However, to Alan’s dismay, when Sharpton was asked—by Colmes—if he thought Bush was a terrorist, the “Rev” agreed.
COLMES: Do you think George W. Bush is a terrorist?SHARPTON:I think George W. Bush, by what was outlined by Belefonte, is guilty of all of them.
COLMES: Is he a terrorist?
HANNITY: Is he a terrorist?
SHARPTON: In the definition that he used, play the definition again.

SHARPTON: In the definition that he used, play the definition again.
HANNITY: George Bush is a terrorist?
SHARPTON: If terror is defined, if terror is defined—
HANNITY: Wow.COLMES: How do you define terrorist?
SHARPTON: Sean, when Martin Luther King claimed to admire—Lyndon Johnson was leading an administration with the greatest violence in the world they denounced him and this is all Belefonte is saying now.
HANNITY : Bellefonte is no Martin Luther King jr.
SHARPTON: Harry Belafonte had a lot to do with who Martin Luther King was.
COLES: You concur with that statement?
SHARPTON: I concur with his definition and I concur with his delivery on Saturday.
HANNITY: We’ve got to run. You should never be on a panel with Louis Farrakhan and not stand up. You shouldn’t sit there and not say anything to a guy who calls the president a terrorist.

It amazes me how black “leaders” have made themselves millionaires on nothing but race-baiting for decades.
There are fewer sub-humans on this Earth than the likes of Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan.
Oh yeah…let’s not forget Belafonte, who says “Bush is a terrorist? while kissing the hand (and ass) of a REAL terrorist, Hugo Chavez.
It’s obvious that stupidity isn’t against the law in the US.
There is no greater example of a true black leader by example than Bill Cosby and he took all kinds of heat for speaking his mind (and telling the truth) a couple of years ago.
Yet, instead of people like Cosby, Condi Rice, Justice Clarence Thomas, and Colin Powell who are the epitome of black success stories in this country and are perceived by the aforementioned moguls as traitors to their race.
There are others in the Democratic Party like Obama of Illinois as well as Harold Ford of Tennessee who should have more of a face and role in the black community instead of the race-baiters mentioned above.

I would like to know his basis for his support of Belafonte. He provided no facts on T.V.
This is all we need, another black leader crying racism and TERRORISM against the one president who has put more blacks in government jobs, provided them more housing, provided them stronger schools and education…etc. But it seems every time Hannity brings that up, it is referred to as propoganda. Huh? Facts are now propoganda? Liberals and racists, do you see the lies and misconception? Any answers? Democrats raise your hands.

Anaconda, you are just plain out wrong about the part of your post where you say black people perceive Bill Cosby and others as traitors to the black race, race-baiting indeed.
Oprah is pretty public, but she isn’t a race-baiter is she? Just because there are a few black leaders who make statements white people might not like doesn’t mean that they are sub-human.
I like how we’re going to see so many people think they’re experts on black culture now..

Clay, in response,
Prepare for uneducated mislead blacks to cry racism and poke fun (if you think accusations of terrorism are forms of fun) at the president and his administration without knowing how it works.
Before you make ignoramous remarks, be sure that you look at both sides of the argument and are not blinded by liberal outcries on the MSM. Research, as I always say and you will learn something.

Clay, you should be sorry that well known blacks in the black community are making false accusations against the president, making treasonist remarks, and getting severely uneducated, uninformed black riled up for a false cause. No one is keeping blacks from suceeding. If there is ANY country in the world they can make it in , it is the USA. George Bush is not surpressing them, if you had a lick of common sense you would know this. Blacks need to STOP relying heavily on welfare, there are PLENTY of jobs available. It is only liberal spokespeople for the black community who keep misinforming them and enraging them, and these people (Sharpton, Belafonte, Jackson, Farrakohn) need to be shut down and shut up.

Neal, you are so misinformed it’s not even funny. I’m not going to condemn what a black person says, just as many white people don’t condemn everything false a white person says. People are free to speak their mind, however wrong they are. Calling the President a terrorist isn’t treason (if Sharpton said that the President works off the fear and terror of the American people would it be any different?).
My prophecy is coming true; we already have someone claiming that the State of the Black Union is an event made up to misinform uneducated and uninformed blacks. Nobody is saying that black people can’t make it in America, nobody is saying President Bush is suppressing them, the comments made by Sharpton were in regards to the war, not civil rights. Sure, there are some radicals, but you need to realize that there are some on both sides.
Your solution to welfare – There are plenty of jobs available, so just work – is laughable, ending welfare dependence isn’t that easy, believe it or not.

I think its funny how I am automatically branded as a “neocon” by toonces because I criticized Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan and Belafonte for their racist remarks.
I’ve seen Bill Cosby criticize some of these “leaders? too, does that make him a “neocon??
For the record, I am an Atheist and I’m NOT anti-abortion. Not exactly neocon credentials by anyone’s standards.
Clay:
Oprah is a very good example of someone in the black community who is as successful as ANYONE (white, black, Hispanic, Asian….etc) and she leads by example. She is an example of success for WOMEN just as much as the black community.
Oprah has made a real name for herself because of her extraordinarily hard work and determination.
She didn’t do it by calling people “racist? and or calling a Republican President a “terrorist? as both Belafonte and Sharpton have done just in the last few days.
You never hear or see Oprah race-baiting in front of a podium or in front of the camera and blame everyone else for her shortcomings.
You tried to make a point by introducing Oprah as your example and you actually proved my point further because she is indeed a black leader that doesn’t need to stoop to such low levels for anyone to listen to her.

Neal: “Blacks need to STOP relying heavily on welfare, there are PLENTY of jobs available”
Neal that’s an incredible generalization there, I know more “white” people abusing the welfare system in this country than I do blacks, and my circle of friends is large, and around 50/50 black/white.
Your chiming in with the “we’re ignorant” claim is almost sad to be honest. Pot. Kettle. Black.

I wonder when these black “leaders” will consider the playing field equal. They already have privledges we don’t. For example being openly racist, and forming openly racist organizations w/o everybody and their ma crying about it.
And would it be racist to take into account cultural factors that may be a barrier to equal success in our society?
2:15 am [ Quote ]
Yes, black organizations are racist, that NAACP organization just hates white people. They want to segregate everything, they want to treat whites as second class citizens, they advocate the lynching of blacks.. come on.
The truth is blacks and whites aren’t equal, sure a lot has been done, but a lot still needs to be done before we can even come close to saying that blacks and whites are on an “equal” playing field.

If you put 100 men and or women each, of any color from every background, do you think that the seeds of equality will grow, blossom and bear fruit just because there’s a law and certain “Professionals” like Sharpton or Clinton continue hosing everything in sight of a camera and microphone?

The only reason you will never see total equality in this country is BECAUSE of racists like Jackson, Sharpton, FreakinCan,etc.!

The problem is HIP HOP CULTURE white people, asian people, native americans, anybody who is a wanna be rapper will suck in life. Someday african americans will walk away from hip-hop. Then we will start to see that there isn’t racism but a cultural intolerance. And it isn’t a bad cultural intolerance. Why should we tolerate people who have their asses hanging out of their pants and can’t speak correctly. And this isn’t just black people but many many white people these days.
