Glenn Reynolds and Walter Shapiro appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources this morning to discuss the Dubai port deal, the media’s coverage of the War in Iraq, and briefly blogging. Host Howard Kurtz started the segment by bringing up “blog first, ask questions later” on the matter of the Dubai port trade off. Reynolds agreed, saying that “the deal sounded bad and the first media story that I read was a NY Post story” that was “pretty negative”. After researching and talked to several experts, he is now “reasonably comfortable” with the port sale. (SIDE NOTE: I never was against the deal) Shapiro says that the story was “overrated”, I agree.
On the subject of blogging, host Howard Kurtz refers points to this article that says blogging is dead. Reynolds noted that the article was trying to make the statistics that 9% of internet users read blogs look bad, however that is a great number considering the amount of Internet users.

I would bet that many internet users read blogs all the time without really considering that they do. They might answer “no” because they don’t participate in a discussion on one, but read from them often.

Because I’m currently living in Japan is why I read the blogs. It’s an excellent cross section for discovering truth, understanding and or confirmation of facts.
Doctors and dentists should find it helpful as it aids in the prevention of Smashmouth disease, as well. I can actually have a discussion with an opposing opinion, providing it’s not some talking points meme, from the Bush basher squad.
But seriously, it’s a great place to educate ones self on issues. Turn off the tube. Talk to your fellow Americans and the rest of the world, without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. It’s a beautiful thing!

Blogging is doing just fine. The “business model” for most bloggers is “glad to get that off my chest.”
How can something mostly free go out of business, ChiTrib?

SIDE NOTE: You were just waiting for the spin so now you can support a plan that in your heart you KNOW was a bad idea.
Not worth the risk. I know you want to support bush but this deal has to many cons to be accepted. We are at war and im tired of that term being enforced when they need it to be and loosened when they dont want it being the issue at hand. Stop letting them insult your intelligence
