Speaking to an audience in the Bronx about school vouchers, Clinton had this to say:

“First family that comes and says ‘I want to send my daughter to St. Peter’s Roman Catholic School’ and you say ‘Great, wonderful school, here’s your voucher,’” Clinton said. “Next parent that comes and says, ‘I want to send my child to the school of the Church of the White Supremacist …’ The parent says, ‘The way that I read Genesis, Cain was marked, therefore I believe in white supremacy. ... You gave it to a Catholic parent, you gave it to a Jewish parent, under the Constitution, you can’t discriminate against me.’”

Genesis is all about white supremacy, so if you are a racist, it is for you.

And you know what I’m talking about! Right?

As opposed to the current School where White Males are EVIL curriculum currently taught in public schools.

Anyway, how hard is it to set up an accreditation system? This is no argument, just bluster and race-baiting.

    LDCA,

The whole point of a private school is that it doesn’t have to be accredited. They can teach [or not teach] whatever the hell they please because they are private.

To allow only federal spending on only accredited schools would defeat the whole point of them being private schools, you would have essentially just created the public school system all over again.

As for the White Males being evil I think you might be misinterpreting. I’m fairly sure that history lessons that illustrate the subjugation of those of different races and genders isn’t meant to demonize wealthy, white men, but rather enlighten students to the often not pleasant history that exists in America. Displaying facts doesn’t mean you are attempting to make them seem evil.

I agree that she making her point based on “ideas in Genesis” is rather retarded since I’ve never heard anyone make that argument before [not that I know the logical basis for white supremacy] but that doesn’t disprove her point.

If you provide vouchers for private schools you cannot choose which private schools, her point still stands despite her stupid example.

I wonder if she is taking an early shot at Mitt Romney for his Mormon beliefs. Hillary’s example is very similar to an article that seemed to be down on Mitt from the Boston Globe on Sunday:

    http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2006/02/19/is_america_ready_for_a_mormon_president/

“But Romney has an additional and perhaps even more serious problem. As taught by Mormon prophets from Brigham Young’s day to the late 1970s, blacks have been regarded as ‘’not equal with other races,” an inequality (to quote Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie) that is ‘’the Lord’s doing based on his eternal laws of justice.” Mormon theologians have justified this racial bias by asserting that the black race is descended from Cain, who was cursed and marked (supposedly with a black skin) and whose descendants continued to bear the mark and the curse.”

Vouchers bring competition, which is much needed in our education system. With vouchers you WILL be able to choose the school your child attends. It will bring a system where that keeps teacher unions from running the show and will let the parent’s with their pocket books (vouchers) dictate how their child is educated. The system will advance the good teachers and the bad/mediocre teachers will be left behind. In a sense without vouchers the children of the poor will be left on Hilary’s and the Dems “plantation”.

“It’s misleading because under federal law no one would be permitted to open a school that advocates violence against the country.”

The only problem with this opposing argument is that American laws make it almost impossible to successfully accuse someone of advocating violence because then they claim that their freedom of speech is being violated.

Why don’t we spend more time and money cleaning up public schools and getting better teachers or paying them better instead of using our tax $$ to send someone to private schools? This way the time and money invested will benefit a lot more than the few who get those vouchers.

If the vouchers allow kids to go to better schools, then what happens to that school which those kids left, leaving behind those who did not qualify for vouchers, and the same mediocre or bad teachers? These teachers are still paid by the city/state regardless right? So how does that create competition when public schools are not run like private schools? Private schools have to compete to stay in business, public schools do not. They still get their $$ from the city $ state, ragardless the #s that they graduate.

Hey Hillary, if the parents want to waste a school voucher on the aryan nation church of white supremacy college, let them, the only person they are hurting in their child.

Besides, its better than being in an inner city urban slum where you are told you are a delinquent who won’t amount to anything. Oh, and vote Democrat.

The schools will have to compete for the Gov. funding (our tax dollars). Just like the market place is today, if you don’t sell a product someone will buy then you go out of business. This is a little different I agree, the product here is education. The US is trailing most of the modern world and something needs to be done. The way I see it we either have vouchers or end the strangle hold on the education system held by the teacher unions.

Perhaps I used the wrong word. My point was essentially that there should be a way by which the government can filter out schools that fit the extreme while at the same time offering a choice. There can be some sort of compromise perhaps … perhaps not.

The “evil” comment was hyperbole. I did, however, review my children’s history books from time to time and was struck by the attempts made to “balance” the portrayal of, say, George Washington. I’m not of course saying that the unsavory aspects of society at the time shouldn’t be discussed, nor there needs to be some balance in viewpoints. However, “balance” seemed to consist mostly in allotting the same or similar word-count to the contributions made by his family as to the Battle of Trenton. While some may laud that balance I think it a bit silly.

Abel Danger: So private Catholic, Muslim, any RELIGIOUS schools can get gov’t funding? When did this happen? Probably over the past 8 years, 6 of which I’ve been overseas.

If this is so then why is the ACLU crying about the Boy scouts getting federal and other gov’t benefits?

Why does it matter what kind of schooling a child recieves? Just have a graduation exam that covers math, reading, history, science. If someone has been taught bigotry and racism, their views on history and science would be so skewed they wouldn’t be able to pass the test. Not to mention what institute of higher learning would admit a student from a school that taught that kind of craziness? Colleges would just have to start looking at the curriculum an aplicant was taught (not a bad ideah with or with out vouchers). Then again most colleges seem to be teaching alot of hate themselves these days.

This is business as usual for the liberals in America! The Democrats have no agenda, no real program; their only weapon in the political war in America is to play the race card at the drop of a hat, to raise the ugly flag of class warfare, and in every way they always play to the lowest common denominator in the soul of our citizens. They are totally pessimistic, living in a world of relative morality and situational ethics. If race and class warfare are not winning issues today, they can drag out the homosexual rights issue, or abortion, or euthanasia, redistribution of wealth, and on and on. They are unable to lift the America spirit and present an agenda of optimism and hope. They live in darkness of mind and spirit and Madame Hillary is just their deity for the season!

She’s concerned children going to Catholic schools will turn diabolical – there are bigger issues with children turning diabolical in public schools. I went to public schools and they serve a good purpose – but families should have the choice to choose – aren’t we taxpayers as well?? Believe me, we’re not asking for handouts just that our taxes go to where we wish – besides schools are not allowed to created based on hatred – so no it wouldn’t make sense to have racially motivated schools. All we ask is that we receive a rebate to use our money where we choose instead of having the government send the money to the private schools – just like income tax refunds – it’s our MONEY.
