Even Chris Matthews, a liberal and former Carter speech writer, couldn’t stand up for his old boss and his party. On tonight’s edition of Hardball, Matthews had two liberals and Kate O’Beirne, a conservative, on to react to Rev. Joseph Lowery and Jimmy Carter bashing Bush and Iraq. Both liberals defended Lowery and Carter’s actions, in fact they even said “you’ve got to expect politics” and “this was not a funeral, this was a speaking”. O’Beirne said “liberals can’t seem to be able to keep politics away from funerals” and called Carter what he is, a “southerner with no graciousness”.

[...] UPDATE: Instapundit gets the impression that Chris Matthews was embarrassed by the behavior of the Dems, due to this exchange. Props to him if he had the sense to be embarrassed (I certainly am quick to say when my party or my church embarrass me) but I figure by tomorrow he’ll have his talking points. [...]

Hmmmmmm does Chris Mathews have a little crush on Bill Clinton?
And what does it mean when they say that Clinton was the first Black President? I guess if you put it in the context of Steve Martin in The Jerk it works.

Maya Angelou (?) called Clinton the first black president. Why, because he had all the attributes and failings of a black man.

Does anyone know if, as Rev. Lowery suggests, Mrs. King stated any negative opinions on the “W.M.D.” issue? I’m always wary of Liberals who speak for the deceased.

The attacks and cheap shots at this funeral were not necessary and VERY tacky
This funeral was SUPPOSE to honor Mrs. King’s life
And as for the wiretapping??
It was the Kennedy Brothers that did that

A Tale of Two Funerals…
Two funerals took place today. One was for a well-known civil rights advocate; the other was for a police officer killed in the line of duty. Which funeral was the most dignified?

Chris Matthews’ greatest disappointment in life is that Monica Lewinsky beat him to the punch in servicing Cigar Willie.
This clip should be saved and played whenever an emetic is reqauired.

What does… What does that even mean?

Did Mathews make a racial Freudian slip and say that the Kings were “spooked” upon? Did he really mean “spied” upon?
Yes, a “spook” also means a spy, but come on! Couldn’t he have used another term for this particular setting?

Bill Clinton is the Messiah of the black community. He panders to their fears and weaknesses and shows phony compassion, while doing nothing.
This is not new! JFK is the liberal Messiah. He, LBJ, that Peanut farmer Carter and Clinton only wanted to enslave more and more black people to the welfare state, desprive them of hope and promise them salvation through their compassionate leadership. Republican Presidents and the party have raised the economic and educational opportunities for all Americans. They have tried to work with the self appointed leaders of the black community, and have only been rebuffed and hated.
The liberals like Billy Jeff promise salvation and enslave a whole people to the welfare state, conservatives work to bring freedom and oportunity and yes even nasty old wealth to all people. Whos is loved? Those who on the left who promise everything and deliver nothing. Who is hated? Those on the right who promise real opportunity and consistently deliver on thos promises.

Coretta Scott King Funeral Turns Into Bush Bash…
The funeral took on political overtones as former President Carter said of the Kings: “It was difficult for them then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps…

Damnit folks, this was a ceremony to eulogize Coretta Scott King; NOT to get up and pontificate about your personal achievements, what you perceive to be the failures of the Bush Administration, or how much you hate and despise him! Oh, and do you REAL…

It is interesting how Chris (and all Dems) say it was Hoover that did the wiretapping of MLK. Not RFK ordering them under his Brothers Dempcratic Presidency. JFK, RFK and LBJ was only given them but the did not order or request it be done! Hoover did it

Carter was his usual classless self, and the Clintons were there for themselves. President Bush was a gentleman, the only bright spot in a sea of lowlifes. The civil rights movement died long before Mrs. King. It was replaced by the loony left and the permanent victims who have one card in their deck.

Anyone else struck with Bill Clinton’s recurrent meme that Coretta Scott King “fit the Bill”?

Bush gave a good speech; maybe the only on I’ve seen that seemed genuine. But was anyone else struck by fact that Bill Clinton is a phenomenal public speaker? He was extemporaneous, heartfelt and pointed.

Considering that piece of garbage that now occupies the White House, George Bush, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY, this site has some fucking nerve criticizing former presidents Carter and Clinton, MEN of considerably more ability and achievement than that moron Bush. When are you Conservatives going to remove your heads from your asses and see the destruction that Bush has done to this country.
Here’s a riddle – What is the difference between Jane Fonda and George Bush?
Ans. JANE FONDA HAS BEEN TO VIET NAM.

Again I see conservatives do not want to hear the truth. They perfer to shelter the moron from the facts.
That we are compromisng our civil liberties, losing our competive edge in the world, high deficits, no end war, complicated drug benefit program, corruption in Congress and the white house, failed policies regarding Katrina.
Yet you have the nerve to criticize Carter and Lowery for speaking the truth.

If 21% inflation and screwing an intern are indications of more ability and achievement, I’m glad Bush isn’t up to par.
“When are you Conservatives going to remove your heads from your asses and see the destruction that Bush has done to this country.”
We’re sorry, but it is your “MEN of great achievement” that decided to turn a FUNERAL, you know FOR RESPECTING THE DEAD, into the DNC. When will you liberals learn that you are losers precisely because we can see through your stupidity.
Here is a summary:
Bush: Doesn’t mention politics, actually recognizes this is a funeral.
Carter: Is the worst president in history, was INVOLVED in King’s wiretapping, and is in general a horrible waste of space.
Bill Clinton, whom I will waive from assault this time because he actually, GASP, recognized this was a funeral. Imagine that, a dead woman in a casket indicates a funeral. Too bad no other Democrat got it.
Hillary Clinton, who just a week or two ago was in another church race-baiting.
Hypocrites, race baiters, disgraces, all of them.
Angry Citizen:
Clinton had 8 years and did nothing, we inherited his poor economy at the end, we can ask the Kurds about Saddam’s WMD’s, and Chocolate School Bus Nagin and Drew-A-Blanco are as responsible for incompetence over Katrina as Bush is. Welcome to reality, you are no longer a moron sheltered from the facts.

Did anyone notice that Jimmy Carter’s remarks were all about Jimmy Carter? The 125 countries he’s visited; when he dedicated the MLK portrait in ‘74, when he gave Mrs. MLK the Freedom Medal in ‘77; when she shook his hand and “blessed” his run for office; when he quoted MLK when he (Jimmy) received the Nobel Peace Prize. Always, always about Jimmy. No couth, no class, a small man who knows in his heart that history will not treat him well.
