Bashing President Bush remained a constant theme at the funeral service for Coretta Scott King. Former President Jimm Carter made the crowd roar after he compared King’s wiretapping to Bush’s terrorist surveillance program:

CARTER: It was difficult for them [the King family] then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps.

In the latter part of his speech, Carter said that not enough was done and is being done for those who suffered from the disaster created by Hurricane Katrina.

You have to give Mr. Carter credit, he did attain the almost impossible, high unemployment, high interest rate, and high inflation.

We could go on and on about his illustrious career, but space is limited. The residual effects of his leadership in the ME are still felt today. Nice to see the passing of “his sister” does not stop him from pandering for cheap applause.

I think the problem is that conservatives/Republicans are suffering under the assumption that funerals are meant to be times of respectful remembrance or celebration of the life of the person in the casket. Today I saw the major difference between the two political parties in this country. I also saw why one party hasn’t been able to win many elections over the last decade or so. At a funeral supposedly to honor the wife of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., I saw members of one party do their best to honor that woman, Corretta Scott King, and the other party use the funeral as a political platform; what a disgrace.

Former Presidents Clinton and Carter reminded the audience why the democrats are slowly fading away from main stream America. Clinton babbled on about himself for so much of his speech, that he needed to remind the audience that, “We have to remember that there’s a woman in there (gesturing to the coffin)” Duh!

Then there was (thankfully) former President Carter, reminding those unfortunate enough to hear his bogus remarks why he is/was the worst president in American history! Not content with having unleashed radical Islam on the world by supporting Ayatollah Khomhenni and shunning the Shah of Iran, our greatest ally in the middle-east at the time, Carter had to resort to re-writting history (something democrats have excelled at in their recent years of decline) at the funeral of the wife of MLK, no less!! Carter mentioned that both King and his wife were the victims of illegal wiretaps, clearly in refference to the hysterical, media driven wiretap story now in the news, which have not proven to be illegal but have put our enemies on notice; thanks again Jimmy! What ex-president Carter failed to mention was which adminstration authorized those wiretaps. It was the Kennedy administration, but Jimmy left that part out. The irony was not lost on non-Bush haters as Ted “Chappaquiddick” Kennedy took the stage. Then Mr. Carter went on to blame the current President for the poor response to Hurricane Katrina, which always gets the Bush hating rabble roused. That’s what Dhimmicrats have been reduced to and why average Americans are leaving them in droves. What a classless act by an inept little man. I thought Jimmy Carter was a horrible President, but he has proven to be worse and far more dangerous to the nation since he left office. Thomas Jefferson must be pulling his hair out seeing how far his party has sunk. You, Mr. Carter, are a disgrace, an embarrassment, and, dare I say, a traitor!

Just in case you wondered. Here is an artical I found regarding the Wire Tapping of MLK

n October 10, 1963, U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy committed what is widely viewed as one of the most ignominious acts in modern American history: he authorized the Federal Bureau of Investigation to begin wiretapping the telephones of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Kennedy believed that one of King’s closest advisers was a top-level member of the American Communist Party, and that King had repeatedly misled Administration officials about his ongoing close ties with the man. Kennedy acted reluctantly, and his order remained secret until May of 1968, just a few weeks after King’s assassination and a few days before Kennedy’s own. But the FBI onslaught against King that followed Kennedy’s authorization remains notorious, and the stains on the reputations of everyone involved are indelible.

Yet at the time, neither Robert Kennedy nor anyone else outside the FBI knew more than a tiny part of the story that had led to that decision, or even the identities of the two FBI informants who had set the investigation in motion. Only in 1981 were their names—Jack and Morris Childs—publicly revealed, but even then the relevant documents were so heavily redacted that only the most bare-bones sketch of what had taken place was possible.

    Again, isn’t this Teddys brother?

Jimmy Carter, and through his Secretary of Defense, Harold Brown, revealed the secret existence of the Stealth Fighter for entirely political reasons. Carter was doing badly in the polls, and stood accused of being soft on defense. So he had Brown announce some details about the Stealth Fighter and Stealth technology after Carter purposely leaked it during a press conference saying “We have planes that can‘t be seen on radar.? At the time Stealth was one of the most closely guarded secrets in the US government; supposedly revealing even the existence of Stealth was a grave threat to national security. If any of the Lockheed “Skunk Works? team had done that, they would have been SOL.

You right wing people are complete ignorants. Some ignorant above stated the following: ‘I saw members of one party do their best to honor that woman, Corretta Scott King, and the other party use the funeral as a political platform; what a disgrace.’

I saw the same thing and it is disgraceful. I saw friends of Coretta and Martin Luther King honoring them by saying what they would have wanted to hear and someone who didn’t know Coretta, Bush, doing what he had to do as sitting president. It’s quite probable that Coretta wouldn’t have even wanted Bush to be there. Coretta wasn’t a nice little grandma who watched Judge Judy every afternoon. She didn’t want her funeral to be one of, as one ignorant above said, ‘respectful remembrance’. She was a fighter- as Lowery has stated, she “spoke truth to power” her entire life. She spent her life fighting people like George Bush, and George Bush himself. She was a very special and important woman in America. Current Presidents don’t show up to nice little grandamas funerals. You have to think on a whole other level about these things you ignorant Republicans- Use your brains- do some actual evaluating before you spew out your misguided, uninformed, ingorant, black and white/over-simplified, nonsense.
Oh, and forget about Bobby Kennedy wire tapping King- J Edgar Hoover is the man who did everything he could to destroy King- as far back as 1962 all the up to his death and beyond- even attempting to block the adoption of the Martin Luther King national holiday. You people are ignorant and pathetic for not breaking out of your cycle of read and react without taking time to THINK and EVALUATE and ask WHY!

Wow, the Republicans are sooooo pissed at the truth! There is a way to have success with war. There are serious violations of human rights with the illegal Bush fascist party. It is time to rise as a nation and demand more…it is time to fight the oppression of the illegally imposed few, the stupidity of the Christain right. Thank you Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton for the truth.

Oh please, the only disrespect shown at that funeral was having Bush there! What a disgusting display – George Bush had no right to speak at Coretta’s funeral, and it is ENTIRELY appropriate that he was embarrassed by the other speakers.

[...] Jimmy Carter (video) tried to tie the legacy of the Kings to the current Democrat-concocted scandal: “It was difficult for them [the King family] then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps.” Nevermind that those wiretaps were ordered by a Democrat, Bobby Kennedy. Later, he said that Hurricane Katrina showed that all are not yet equal in America. He’s right. Statistics show that about 64% of the residents living in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina were white, yet all the coverage and liberal mantra tries to paint a picture of a black-only catastrophe. But it does sound like any Cindy Sheehan rally, Michael Moore appearance, or Jimmy Carter interview. Hell, it sounds like Coretta Scott King’s funeral. [...]
