Talk about demagogic nonsense! Even by the low standards set by Kennedy himself over the decades, this is irresponsible.
Alito’s confirmation will have zeroeffect on the topics Kennedy mentions.
But it does show, once again, that many on the left believe that the purpose of the court is to promote “social justice” and to lead the country into the “progressive future”. The Constitution to them is simply a blank document where they can read their own political ideology onto it.
Hell, Kennedy, let’s do away with the executive and legislative branches and just let the courts run things.

Look, it’s fine to criticize Kennedy, but this whole trend of Republicans getting amnesia about the race issue is totally absurd. The Republican party gained its foothold in the South with race issues, and while it is great to see many of the younger Republicans in the South getting away from that, it just isn’t something you want to bring up. Please read up on Southern history during the 50’s-90’s.
