Expose the Left

After President Bush addressed the nation on Thursday night, ABC reporter Dean Reynolds tried to get a few Katrina survivors to bash the former. Reynolds failed and he failed miserably. The same tactic – but more obvious – was used today on a FOX News’ financial show, Cashin’ In. Jonathan Hoenig of Capitalistpig Asset Management had the chance to question the police chief in New Orleans, this is how it went:

HOENIG: Chief, first of all God bless you for all the work you do. Let me ask you, are you pissed at Bush? I mean everyone I talk is pissed at Bush. Are you pissed at him?

CHIEF: No I’m not disappointed in the President, but I do think the federal government should have been here sooner. The President signed a declaration two days before the storm. FEMA and other federal agencies, primarily the National Guard military should have been able to descend on this city within 30 hours, not 4 days later. I believe the President’s intentions were good, I simply believe his people gave him bad information.

Its not as simple as the chief states. The truth is Bush is the CEO and he hired all these people who let him down. Only Brown was fired.
Bush reorganized FEMA and put it under Homeland Security. These changes were supposed to make responses more efficient. This was going to be the first great test of his newly reorganized bureaucracy. There was a new 500 page plan of action. This was going to be the first real test of this new setup.

Bush should have been watching more closely. He wasn’t. Homeland Security chief, Chertoff should have had a handle on this. He didn’t. The head of FEMA, Brown, should have had a handle on this. He didn’t. Back to the drawing board.

Steve Donohue: Please give me 2-3 documented, objective examples of where Bush, Chertoff or Brown failed to carry out their duties before, during or after Katrina hit? Where are the clear, documented examples of malfeasance, misfeasance or nonfeasance on their part?

No accusations or rumors are acceptable answers. Your feelings about how long it took for federal relief to get to the victims are also acceptable, that is emotion, not proof of failure to carry out their duties. Only exactly when, where and how any of these people failed to perform their duties as they are specified in Federal Legislation or Administration policies.

I have asked you this before Steve and all you can do is engage in accusations based on anecdotal data and your hateful feelings toward President Bush. We need details!

[...] The Political Teen has another video of another Bush-hater doing his best to bait someone on camera. If at first you don’t succeed and all of that, I suppose. (This one is on Fox News, by the way. You know, that ultra-rightwing news network.) [...]

Umnumzana, the proof is in the chaos after the hurricane. It’s too bad you don’t have a TV you would know exactly what I was talking about.
It should be enough to know that Bush the guy who usually gives medals to screw ups actually fired someone Doesn’t that mean anything to you? Do you suppose he fired Brown because Brownie was really doing a good job???? I think you must be the only person in the U.S. who doesn’t understand that in spite of a weeks notice they still weren’t ready to go in IMMEDIATELY after the hurricane moved out. All the vehicles and military that we saw 4 days after the storm were 4 days late.

Steve Donohue: As usual, you have a casual disregard for the facts/truth. Michael Brown was not fired! He was recalled to Washington by Chertoff and he subsequently resigned to remove himself from being a distraction, and being used by the liberals to attack Bush.

Despite your accusations regarding my ignorance, you have failed to provide even the smallest piece of objective, documentary evidence that Brown was guilty of any misfeasance, malfeasance or non-feasance of his office. You and all liberals have decided, based on the time lapse from the hurricane hitting New Orleans and the first arrival of federal relief that, the federal government was guilty of deliberately delaying such help and/or of being grossly incompetent. You are unwilling to wait for any credible evidence of wrongdoing to be produced, and you have absolutely no hard facts to support your claims! As you are aware there have been many accusations of the mayor and the governor interfering with that federal relief, of bureaucratic delays and other factors having little or nothing to do with any person in the Federal Government. Now these things are not evidence either, and neither is anything you have ever presented!

That is the plain and simple truth, I know it does not fit in with your leftist bias and hatred of our President, but the truth is the truth and there is nothing you can do about it; except rely upon the favorite weapon of all liberals, tell a lie long enough and loud enough until it is perceived as being the truth.

Why is it that you liberals have such a hatred for our Constitution, for the concept of people being innocent until proved guilty, and why are you so terrified of all objective, documented facts? Is it because you know you are in the wrong and the evidence will stand against you?

Umnumzana, you are the only one in America that thinks Brown quit because he didn’t want to be a distraction. What a noble guy! My god he’s a martyr!
So let me get this straight. The guy is called back to Washington by Chertoff even though Brown was doing a great job??? In my experience, which is only in this world, when a guy is taken off a job in the middle of it usually that means he’s not doing the job. He’s incompetent. Firing him outright reflects back on the one who hired him,George Bush. So you don’t actually fire him, you recall him. You put him in an office in Washington where he is out of the way and can’t do any harm. But then people realize he’s still head of FEMA and when the next disaster hits we’ll have to trot Brown out again. So Rove phones Brown and tells him it would probably be a good idea if he chose to resign. That is how these things usually go in this world anyway.

Steve Donohue: The point was and is, you deliberately misstated the facts; You said Brown was fired! He was not fired! Was he forced to quit? I don’t know! At the very least his embarrassment at being recalled may have played a role, but that does not equal being fired!

You are unable and unwilling to face facts! You are unable and unwilling to face the truth. You are unable and unwilling to produce one scintilla of documentary evidence of brown’s misdeeds!

I never defended Brown because I don’t have all the facts about this fiasco. Unlike you, I never attack someone absent clear proof of wrongdoing!
