Last night Sean Hannity had Michael Crook from Forsake Our Troops on – and boy did he go off on this guy. Who can blame who them, Michael Crook calls our troops “scumbags” with a petty argument. Surprisingly Alan Colmes takes the same side as Hannity on this issue.

Wow. I really enjoyed that interview. I’ve read the comments Crook puts on his site and he sounds all tough. It’s funny how tough he looked with his stuttering when Sean was all over him making him look about an inch tall. I usually don’t agree with Sean but wow I was impressed with him there. I was also shocked to see both Hannity and Colmes agree. Sorry Michael you lose.

!! I have read a lot about this idiot in the past few day on the web. Don’t know how true it is but it seems that Crook tried to join the army back in 1999 and was kicked out in boot camp. Everything I read about this idiot is different every time. This dude is a fake. He just wants somebody to notice him. If you ask me, he picked the wrong group of people. I emailed him and told him a few things and then he would not grant me access to his website. Got to love it. Anyway I told him about some of the Marines that were killed and shot in my unit while we were in Iraq. I told him, that everybody that is killed or wounded in combat has somebody that loves them and he would have to watch his back for a long time to come because somebody out there was going to knock his brains back into his head. I wish I could see that. On another note: I am done talking and wasting my time on this idiot. I will ask God to grow Michael a brain and spare him a bet down which he deserves.

I have been in the Army for the past 20 yrs, I take this citizen with a grain of salt, my resons for this is it reenforces why i do what i do, to help give the fredoms that we all enjoy to everybody(even if i dont agree with a view )its nice to know that my lifes commitment gives people the bravery and the fredom of thought to speak their mind, thats a great thing and makes me want to do this for the next 20 yrs, god bless this country and all the differances that make it worth defending

This guy knows nothing of the military pay structure that he speaks of. Because if he did he would realize that military pay is not a lot of money given the amount of responsibility that is given to our fighting young men and women. I just got out of the Navy after 8 1/2 years and part of the reason was the lack of pay. The amount that I was being paid was not directly in proportion to the amount of responsibilities that I had or the amount of hours that I worked. If I was to be paid for the number of hours that i actually worked I would be a lot better off finacially

After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, my grandfather and one of his good friends joined the Navy. He served in the Pacific, leaving my grandmother at home in California to take care of my father. My father joined the Army during Vietnam because of the draft…Michael, that’s where a bunch of “volunteers” names are put into a lottery and then drawn to see who will be given the chance to “leach off of the government”...oh yeah and put their life at risk for those benefits that some didn’t have the opportunity to “enjoy”. My father was one of the few lucky ones…he was only shot a few times. With my father’s guidance and knowing the long history of military service in my family (dating back as early as the American Civil War), I pondered service to my country. I had considered my willingness to sacrifice my life for my country and the hardships that I would endure, not including being away from family, childhood friends, and my home. I made my decision (not sure how much of it was based off of my 4 years of college that I paid for out of MY OWN pocket). While serving in Korea, I lost my grandfather… A day doesn’t go by that I don’t hear his last words to me, ringing in my ears…”When are you coming home?” Try living with something like that your whole life, Michael. Then, maybe…just maybe you will be educated enough to understand what sacrifice costs.

When I retired in 1995, my immediate family had 108 years active service to this great country of ours. Two of those were spit on when they returned from service in Viet Nam. The San Diego Tribunes headlines asked “Where are all the Drunken Sailors” when many of us returned from a 6 month deployment in the Western Pacific. My neice and nephew both just returned from tours in Iraq, by the Grace of God. Ignorance comes in all shapes and sizes. It really is a shame that this young man calls himself an American. I, myself, am a soldier currently deployed in Iraq at this very moment. What really amazes me is the fact that the overwhelming majority of Iraqi citizens are more than thankful for what we (the troops) are doing for them…giving them their first taste of freedom! Ironically enough, more times than not, it’s a small portion of American citizens who oppose our efforts the most…this guy being one of them. We are all doing what was asked of us by our government. I wish Mr. Crook could hear the horrific tales of former dictator Saddam Hussein, told first-hand by his own people. I think he then would start to realize why having the military is truly a necessity. I wish news programs would start previewing the American citizens to the numerous success stories that are emerging from Iraq on a regular basis, rather than waste air time on people like Michael Crook.

Mr. Crook is sorely mistaken in his rights. The only rights we have are to believe what we want, which is different than expressing it because some places you die if you do, and dying. Everything else is a privilege in some way, shape, or form. As far as pay, which I am not in the military for, he should talk to the same civilians that he votes for and who set our pay and tell us where to deploy. Not one single military member can make any military, pay, or benefit decision unless it is approved by civilians in Washington that are voted into office by our countries citizens. That is democracy in action, you don’t like it you can find some place that does it better, but I doubt it will be on this planet. A perfect world exists in the movies and ones mind. Well i suppose bieng in the service i would be expected to be very angry, and im not unirritated. I Mean i would probelly ruin a good month for the guy, but im mostly just dissapointed in the guy. If he doesnt like my country then he can leave its ok with with me. Ive lost 4 buddies in the war in iraq since i joined a year ago and i know they didnt die for nothing, i know they were damn fine soldiers and heros. If this guy really knew what it was like to serve his country he wouldn’t talk the shit that he does. He needs to realize that you have to have a passion to defend our nation b/c if you did it soley for the money then you wouldn’t make it. We are not paid like we should but you don’t hear us on National TV complaining about it…instead we do what we have to do b/c when it comes down to it it’s not about the money. As Far as his complaint tax money going into military pay and compensations, he needs to realize that all military members pay taxes also. No one is exempt from paying taxes. True we may not pay it for a short period of time because of a deployment or some sort of short term exemption, but it all comes down to this: we all pay taxes.
He needs to wake up. He should take a trip down to Arlington National cemetary a look at all the graves of fallen soldiers. He need to go to school and read up on how this nation got to be the nation it is today, by the strength and courage of our military.

First of all as hard as it is to say this, I think that people should pray for this lost individual. I don’t think he really has any clue what so ever what he is actually talking about. I serve in the military and I know that it is not perfect, but for him to act like he knows everything about our lifestyle is ignorant, arrogant, and completely wrong. I can come home and look at my wife and two sons and know that I am doing something right. This guy is completely lost. I am not only a proud citizen of the United States of America but a military wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece and granddaughter. My family members chose to honorably serve their country. They have been involved in conflicts and wars and fortunately all have returned safely. I have not only seen the Hannity and Colmes interview, but hae also visited the “Forsake The Troops” website. I am dismayed at this man’s ignorance. The pay and benefits extended to military members and their families is mediocre at best. We have service members who live below the poverty level. They are forced to place families on WIC and ask for government assistance. Yet they work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365/366 days a year to defend the freedoms that Crook is entitled to. Those service members that forgo the Basic Housing Allowance and live in government housing are not living in extravagant homes as Crook would have one believe. Most facilities are old and require maintenance. The medical care that is provided is not what the civilian world receives. While our military physicians and staff are well trained and competent, we still do not have access to the most technologically advanced procedures and most renowned doctors and facilities. These “excessive amounts” of pay and benefits that military members receive are paid for by every tax paying citizen, including the active duty, reserved, retired or disabled service member and their working spouses. Walking in the shoes of a military member would not even allow Crook to see the great sacrifices that are made by our service members and their families because he is too narrow minded. He does not understand that you cannot place a price on freedom. You also can never adequately be compensated for missing your child’s birth, first steps, prom or graduation because you were deployed. Our lives as military families are not easy, but it is a life that I am proud of.

It is because people volunteer to become soliders of the United States that we don’t need a military draft. This is why Michael Crook is not one of the many over seas fighting. I hate people who blame the troops for being in Iraq. It’s not that they have any say in the decisions that are made. They are over there to do what our government feels what needs to be done. So if anyone is angry for the war in Iraq they should be mad at the government and NOT at the soliders. Support them in wanting to earn a living, willing to risk their lives, and being brave enough to do what many of us don’t. Two things. First, Michael, before attacking the benefits of the military, do some research and find out the details of it. For instance, most Medicaid recipients recieve more solid medical care than military members do. Most military members do NOT have ONE specific doctor they go to. They are assigned the next available doctor as is available. Welfare and Medicaid recipients get assigned a Primary Care Manager and that person sees them for all their care. How does that compare? As far as the pay goes, we do NOT get paid enough. Again, for instance, take an electronics technician. What is the average salary in the civilian world for an ET? 60-70K a Yr. Even with 15 yrs experience, an ET in the military can only make 36K a yr (base pay only). Add the housing allowance…you get about 48K a yr. Still very short of civilian pay. Most military members and their families barely squeak by from month to month.. Exactly, Michael, how are we overpaid? I missed my baby’s birth, as well as his first steps. I missed my eldest son’s first home run, and my middle son’s first day of kindergarten…tell me I get paid enough for what I do. Go..fight for me…get me more…then, I might allow myself to respect you. Consider yourself schooled.

Far from it, “freedom of speech” for American at home was never a pretext for war. The official White House objective in the beginning concerned the “ties” between Saddam and Al-Qaida—more specifically Osama Bin Laden. Later, the White House addresses the weapons of mass destruction issue and makes fraudulent and exaggerated claims concerning the presence of such weapons in Iraq. If that were true, one of the largest weapons bunkers (clearly visible from outer space) would have been destroyed in the first airstrikes against Iraq prior to the subsequent invasion. This bunker was never destroyed and was a year later discovered by a patrol. Once the WMD issue was found wanting, the White House once again changed its official stance to the rhetoric that “Saddam was an evil man who needed to be gotten rid of.” The main reason why Saddam has not—and will never—get his trial is simple: cross examination would reveal details of U.S. involvement in the gassing of the Kurds—not to mention the fact that any physical evidence of the weapons used by “Chemical Ali” would have, figuratively speaking or otherwise, “made in the U.S.A” labels. So there is no chance that any “evidence” or “prosecution” will continue against Saddam without some kind of plan to shut the entire public from seeing the actual specifics of the trial. Another interesting fact is that the prosecution against Saddam is trying to solicit help from the Iranian government to bring “evidence” against Saddam—clearly this “evidence,” is nothing more than a sham designed to keep the U.S. out of the picture.
As far as the pathological patriotism of many people in America today who continue to demand others who disagree with them to “shut up or leave”—I can only say this:

After being in Iraq 2 times, and being on the ground with the infantry, and I might add one of the worst places in Iraq as we speak, which would be called the Sunni triangle of Death, this guy Crook enrages me, losing good friends over there and nearly my own life I have to say that I would love for this guy to have been in our shoes for just 1 minute. Yes being a human does give you rights. It may be difficult to use those rights, but when it is, those rights are intruded upon. But the rights are still there. Anyone who isn’t able to speak still has rights, but also an inability due to circumstances. I am not appreciative of the US military or anyone in it. First off, what the f**k is this Michael Crook talking about? Our military should be paid MUCH more. That way Presidents like G.W.Bush and Johnson would think twice about sending men into questionable wars because they would be a most valuable commodity to our “Government” and the cost(as it should be) would not make sense. We get these Boys and Girls and throw them into a very short training program(short meaning inexpensive) and then shove them out onto the battle fields with marginal Combat training and Cheaply Armored Vehicles. This all keeps the Monetary cost down.
LAPD starting pay is $42,000. a year. That is a cop who is patrolling our neighborhood, not in a war zone.

Our military is unique, dedicated and powerful. They are in the military 24/7, 365 days a year and are therefore, in my opinion not by any means overpaid.
